"Life isn't fair."
We hear this every day, from toddlers, teenagers, and even adults. Life isn't fair. But when things come in your way and life doesn't go as planned, how do you react? It is believed that how a person reacts to their plans being changed defines them as a person. If you were planning on hanging out with your friends, but someone gets sick and the whole thing is cancelled, do you get mad or do you decide to reschedule? If you work days and days on something, say a gift, and the person who you gave it to didn't give the reaction that you expected, do you get angry at them or do you realize that maybe they didn't see the gift the same as you?
In life we are going to be thrown curve balls. We are going to have things disappoint us, and we are going to have people disappoint us. We are going to sleep through our alarm and miss the school bus, and we are going to completely ruin a job interview. We are going to forget about our daughter's ballet recital and we are going to have to work during our son's soccer game. How are you going to react when these happen? Who are you going to blame? Are you going to blame yourself, or everyone but? Who are you going to discuss the issue with?
Life isn't fair. Life will never be fair. We weren't born to have perfect lives with no flaws whatsoever. But we are supposed to learn from out mistakes and change our lives for the better.
Next time you are late for work, who are you going to blame? The traffic? The car? Your coworkers?
When you get an F on your assignment, what are you going to do? Yell at your teacher? Try harder the next time?
How you react to disappointment defines who you are as a person. Life isn't fair. Live it anyway.
